• What is non-woven polypropylene?

Polypropylene is a flexible resin polymer (plastic). The term non-woven is used because the polymer is actually a large sheet of flexible material that has been debossed to look like woven fabric.

• What is GSM?

GSM stands for grams per square meter. This refers to the weight and density of the non-woven material. The higher the GSM the stronger and more durable the material. Most totes are made from 70 GSM to 100 GSM. The size and function of the tote determines what GSM is used. For example, there is a noticeable difference in quality between a 80 GSM and 100 GSM grocery tote.

• Is all non-woven material the same?

No. The GSM measures the density of the material, not the quality. The quality of the raw resin, added fillers and the manufacturing, or extruder process, all determine the quality of the material.

• Can non-woven polypropylene bags be recycled?

Yes, the totes can generally be recycled at the end of their life span.
